I am currently working on my Master's thesis which will be focused on soft robotic gripper research.
I like the design of the gripper you had posted a year ago - http://superreleaser.com/blog/2015/12/1 ... ic-gripper
I looked for the Make book but it doesn't seem to exist yet. I was wondering if you could post the model files for it. It seems like a good starting point.
Also I've been struggling with FEA analysis using Abaqus mostly with errors due to self-contact conditions (for the fast actuating PneuNet actuator from the Soft Robotics Toolkit). Your actuator doesn't have self-contact requirements as the chambers never touch so I was hoping to run the FEA analysis on it and see how that works.
If the model is something you are saving for the book, I understand and I can work on my own design but I wanted to ask before I got started.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
Chris
About the Simple 3D Printed Robotic Gripper
Re: About the Simple 3D Printed Robotic Gripper
Howdy! Thank you so much for reaching out and your kind words about our design. The MAKE book is still in production, so we aren't able to make the file available to the public, yet. However, we are super interested in figuring out more ways to validate our designs and experiment with new concepts as quickly as possible.
Having avenues to use FEA to test new concepts would be fantastic. I will talk with Kari and figure out whether we can share something for you to evaluate.

Thank you. I appreciate it!

Hey Matt, Happy New Year.
Just following up wondering if you found out if you can share those models.

Re: About the Simple 3D Printed Robotic Gripper
Hi Matt,
I have the same question as ugabuga. I am currently working on a research project and want to use this gripper in my robot project. Is it possible to share the design and/or the book if the part of this gripper in the book is finished? We can buy the partial book with the gripper design and instructions.
Look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks very much for your help.
