Re: Squid
Here's my latest incarnation of this nutty idea. The tubes into the 4 chambers will be connected to double-action pneumatic cylinders, driven from the shaft by a camshaft so the two pistons are 90 degrees out of phase with each other. The camshaft driven by a motor. Hopefully, this will turn into a ...
Squid
I had this idea for a squid robot for running underwater. I'm not sure about much so far, but I think it's going to have two pairs of chambers, 1 pair along the axis and 1 pair with one in the middle and the other in a bulbous forhead to "dump" air when the middle needs to deflate. Maybe 4 chambers ...

Re: Your tentacle
I have a question about your article on the Trefoil Tentacle here: https://www.adafruit.com/products/997#Description I had assumed that the use of PWM control of a maximum pressure, rather than a variable pressure valve, would require the off state to be vented to the atmosphere, probably through a ...

Flowering Plant
I've attached a few sketches of a soft robot I want to make. It is essentially a flowering plant on a stem, but the stem can bend and the "petals" can grab from the air, like a venus flytrap. It is intended to be based on the art design of Brian Froud in the Dark Crystal. I would also like it to mor...

Re: Your tentacle
I've been looking at the Aqua Freeman Flakes. One of the things that has me interested in them is the low shrinkage. One of the issues, in addition to the brittleness, has been that I need to fill the molds twice because the wax pulls into the mold so far as it cools.

Re: Your tentacle
Cool. Once I got started with the paraffin, a couple of people here at the Artisan's Asylum in Somerville, MA, suggested jewelry wax, but I already bought all of this paraffin.... :) I skipped the alignment jig for no good reason except that I didn't know what to do with the AI file. I figured out i...

Your tentacle
I have been trying to reproduce the tentacle on your site, and a 4-fingered gripper I found on Instructables. Chronicling those adventures here: http://instagram.com/p/lRKLfwAuUf/. Just finished my first attempt at the tentacle, and am debating moving forward, or attempting a better casting. Not sur...
