Re: What Solenoid Valves other than SMC are available State-Side
There are a ton of options. It really depends on what your budget is and what you need in terms of performance. Do you have an idea of how fast they need to actuate, what pressure they need to operate at, the size of valve you're looking for, and what airflow you're looking for. There are cheap sole...

Re: Any lists of Values for FEA?
This is an issue we've struggled with as well. So far, we haven't found a single all-encompassing source for elastomer properties. Additionally, FEA doesn't capture systems like soft robots very well. It's great for girders and oil rigs, but tends to not have a lot of predictive power when aimed at ...

Re: FEA on Soft Structures
This is useful info to know! Thank you.
I'm not sure how to get in touch with the SR toolkit folks, but I know some people who might. Let me see if I can drum anything up.

Re: About the Simple 3D Printed Robotic Gripper
Howdy! Thank you so much for reaching out and your kind words about our design. The MAKE book is still in production, so we aren't able to make the file available to the public, yet. However, we are super interested in figuring out more ways to validate our designs and experiment with new concepts a...

Re: Connecting pneumatic tubing with the Soft Robot
Howdy! This is one of the persistent, frustrating problems with inflating squishy actuators. Could you describe the method you're currently using to connect the tubing to your robot? You might also find this video on soft robot adapters by XYZAidan helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bcgIzCQ4Fw...

Re: FEA on Soft Structures
Hi Z, I haven't played with too much soft robotics FEA. Solidworks has a FEA package that can do some basic elastomer FEA if you're looking specifically at deformation, flow, or heat, but won't be too much help if you're looking to generate pneumatic or hydraulic soft mechanisms. As Aidan said, the ...

Howdy! We posted your work on the blog! http://superreleaser.com/blog/2016/8/7/soft-robotic-actuator-without-3d-printing Thanks again for sharing it here. I hope a ton of people see it. The way you design soft robots makes it super easy for people to get started making their own and I feel it's a gr...

Re: DIY Soft Robotic Tentacle
Excellent work! I really appreciate your use of everyday materials as molds. It makes your work super easy to experiment with at home and learn from.
I'd like to blog about this project. Would that be alright? Is there anything additional I should include?
